Dr. Nneka T. Breaux
Nneka T. Breaux (formerly Hanshaw), a Mississippi native, graduated Magna cum laude from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. After finishing Spelman in May of 1997, she accepted the opportunity to pursue her doctorate in Synthetic Organic Chemistry at Purdue University in West Lafayette , IN. After receiving her Ph.D. in May 2003 from Purdue, Dr. Breaux began her career as a chemist in Discovery Research at Dow AgroSciences in Indianapolis , IN. Dr. Breaux has tutored and mentored students ranging from elementary – aged to adult learners and has volunteered for National Chemistry Week and the “Kids-n-Chemistry” series at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum. She has also judged a number of local and state science fairs. Most recently, she served on the Judging Committee for the 2006 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair held in Indianapolis . She is married to the Rev. Jason R. Breaux, and they have one daughter, Nia Soyini Mariama. |

Dawn A. Brooks, Ph.D.
Dawn received her doctorate in organic chemistry from Indiana University in 1998. Dr. Brooks joined Eli Lilly and Company that year and is a co-inventor of a clinical candidate for diabetes that reached Phase III studies. She has worked in both discovery and development at Lilly and is currently Director, Chemical Product R&D. Dawn joined the Science Education Foundation of Indiana (SEFI) Executive Board in 2002 and served as the Lilly Judging Coordinator and Chemistry Caucus Leader for 2006 International Science and Engineering Fair. |

Howard Brooks, Ph. D.
Howard
graduated Summa Cum Laude with honors in physics from William Jewell College in 1977. He completed his M.S. (1979) and Ph.D. (1981) degrees in physics at the University of Missouri-Rolla. His research there investigated the interaction of low energy electron swarms with gas mixtures containing iodine and mercuric bromide. He joined the faculty at DePauw in 1981, where he is currently Professor of Physics and Astronomy. He is active in the Indiana Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers and the Boy Scouts of America. His current research program, Balloon Assisted Stratospheric Experiments (BASE), involves launching helium-filled weather balloons that carry small experimental payloads into the stratosphere. The BASE program also involves upper elementary, middle, and high schools from the West Central Indiana area that design their own experiments for trips to near space. |

Rick Crosslin
Rick is the school liaison for science learning at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum and Science Teacher at MSD Wayne Township. He has received numerous awards recognizing him as an outstanding classroom teacher. His awards include a 2005 Emmy “Datacast Demonstration” Technical Achievement PBS WFYI, 2004 Indiana University School of Education Distinguished Alumni, 2001 Christa McAuliffe Fellow, the 1999 Hoosier Association of Science Teachers Inc. Distinguished Service Award, the 1998 Milken National Educator Award, the 1997 Indiana Exemplary Teacher Network Award, finalist for the 1996 Indiana Teacher of the Year, the 1996 MSD Wayne Township Teacher of the Year, and the 1990 Presidential Award for Excellence in Science. He is the founder and director of the Indianapolis Boys and Girls Clubs Super Summer Sa fari Science Camp. Currently he is the camp director for the Diabetes Youth Foundation – Camp till the Cure summer science camp. He has taught grades 3, 4, 6 and graduate courses for teachers in Indiana and Cairo , Egypt . In addition, he has taught pre-school children at the Children’s Museum, adolescent teens at the Indiana Department of Correction Boys’ School, and intergenerational classes at Oasis centers. He is the author of the monthly science section of the publication Inquisitive Kids, “Mr. C the Scienceman” where he shares his expertise and motto: This is science , don’t take my word for. Try it yourself! |

John A. Demerly
John graduated from Purdue University in 1997 with a degree in Agricultural Sales and Marketing. While at Purdue, John was President of the Purdue Foundation Student Board and Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. In addition, he was involved with NAMA, served as an Agricultural Ambassador, and campaigned for student body Vice-President. John was nominated to Iron Key Leadership Honorary, where he served with 10 other senior leaders.
After graduation, John worked for Novartis Agribusiness as a key territory representative in Indiana . John managed sales for several retail outlets and served as the key territory representative for a large distributor. In addition, John served as a sales trainer.
Upon leaving Novartis in 2000, John was named the Executive Director of the Indiana FFA Organization where he managed the strategic direction, programming and operations of the Indiana FFA and it 10,000 members. In addition to his role as the FFA director, John was also the Assistant Director for Life Sciences Education at the Indiana Department of Education. John was instrumental in the development of three advanced agriculture science courses for students interested in the broad food, fiber and biotechnology industry. John currently works for ABG in Indianapolis as a Business Development Manager. ABG is an international business of 85 associates with more than 300 clients with services in market research, strategy, learning and technology.
John and his wife (also a Purdue graduate) have 4 children and reside in Avon, Indiana. John is active in his church, volunteers with his children’s’ extracurricular activities, volunteers with the Indiana FFA and serves on the Science Education Foundation of Indiana.

Edward is Executive Director and Hoosier Association of Science Teachers, Inc. (HASTI). He is a retired high school biology teacher with forty years of experience.
Edward has be actively involved with HASTI since 1974.
He us the treasurer of the Indiana Academy of Science, professional parliamentarian and treasurer of the Indiana State Association of Parliamentarians. |

Ann Fumarolo
Ann Fumarolo has been the President of Science Central since 1997. Science Central is a hands-on science central that serves over 175,000 people in northeast Indiana . She holds a B.S. and MPA from Indiana University . Currently she sits on the Membership and Diversity Committee of the Association of Science and Technology Centers which is an International organization. On the national level she is a leader on a collaborative science center initiative that develops science exhibits for under-served communities and is supported by the National Science Foundation. Fumarolo is a Board member of SEFI, on the Advisory Board of Purdue University Science Outreach, Advisory Board member of Purdue Discovery Park , Affiliate Director of the Indiana Space Consortium and Chair of the Indiana University-Purdue University Public Affairs Community Advisory Board. She was selected by IPFW 2005 as Outstanding Graduate and in 2003 Fort Wayne Woman in Leadership. She has two college age children who are also her best friends. |

Peter T. Kissinger, Ph.D.
Peter is the chairman and CEO of Bioanalytical Systems, Inc. and Professor of Chemistry at Purdue University , West Lafayette , Indiana . Dr. Kissinger received a B.S. in Chemistry (1966) from Union College , Schenectady , N.Y. and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry (1970) from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill . Prior to joining the faculty at Purdue in 1975, Kissinger was a Research Associate at the University of Kansas (1970-1972) and an Assistant Professor at Michigan State University (1972-1975). He founded BASi in 1974. Headquartered in West Lafayette , Indiana , BASi also has operations in Evansville ; Baltimore ; McMinnville , OR ; and the U.K. The company manufactures instrumentation and develops software for pharmaceutical research, and carries out contract chemical and toxicological research for the pharmaceutical industry. BASi Vetronics manufactures instrumentation for veterinary medicine. Dr. Kissinger’s academic research has involved the study of modern liquid chromatography techniques, and in vivo methodology for drug metabolism and the neurosciences. Dr. Kissinger has published more than 230 scientific papers and is a Fellow of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In 2005, he became the Chairman of Prosolia and Tienta, two life science instrumentation companies. |

Wade Lange
Built upon a diversified background in the medical industry that spans over twenty years, Wade Lange is passionate about the medical sector and the growth opportunity that the sector represents. Wade's background encompasses broad experience in the areas of clinical research, marketing, marketing research, business development and general management serving the pharmaceutical, medical device and healthcare sectors.
Wade created Lange Advisors following his 5-year leadership of the Indiana Health Industry Forum. His highly collaborative approach built strong momentum for growth of this key economic sector. Under his leadership, IHIF became a prominent player in the development of Indiana's life sciences sector and was a leader in the creation of BioCrossroads, new biotechnology degrees at Ivy Tech State College and Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis, and regional economic development strategies. Wade was also a key industry spokesman who made frequent public presentations and was often interviewed for television, radio and print media stories that focused on growth of the life sciences sector.
Prior to IHIF, Wade acted in a variety of roles including General Manager at West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. for 13 years. Under his leadership, West's Consumer Healthcare Research business unit was one of the nation's leading contract research organizations in its field. Wade started his career with Eli Lilly and Company in sales, market research and new product marketing. Mr. Lange received his BS in Pharmacy from Purdue University and his MS in Industrial Administration from the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University. |

Karen M. Morris
A lifelong resident of the Mishawaka area, Karen is currently employed at the University of Notre Dame in the Dept. of Chemistry & Biochemistry. Her role as Outreach Coordinator encompasses a variety of activities that include chemistry demonstration shows, coordinating on-campus science activities for various school groups, consulting with department faculty on science education issues and advising first year students in the General Chemistry Programs. In addition to this, Karen is the Executive Director of the Northern Indiana Regional Science and Engineering Fair, is the organizer of the annual Expanding Your Horizons in Science and Mathematics Career Conference for middle school girls and guides the new Sensing Our World summer science camp for middle school students at Notre Dame. A founding member of the Northern Indiana Science Math and Engineering Collaborative (NISMEC), Karen works with colleagues who have similar interests at Notre Dame, Saint Mary's College, IUSB and with other education professionals and groups in the area. Since the early 1990's, Karen has also aided local public and private K-12 teachers in the development of strategies and skills for implementing standards-based guided inquiry science curricula. Karen's work with guided inquiry materials (stemming from a 1999 - 2003 NSF grant) has provided her with many opportunities to teach science concepts to students in K - 12 classrooms. Karen is currently a partner on a Math-Science Partnership grant with the School City of Mishawaka and has assisted in the implementation of its elementary science curriculum. This assistance includes summer professional development workshops for School City of Mishawaka K-6 teachers. Karen is married and has two children - whom she enjoys cheering in their sporting, music and academic endeavors. Karen also enjoys watching college and professional football, reading and gardening. When the weather cooperates, you might find Karen outside in the evenings with her telescope, sharing her love of the heavens with her family and the neighbors. |

Pam Fleck Oldknow
Pam is a nurse medical analyst in the Indianapolis law office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP. In this role she analyzes medical records to identify issues most relevant to attorneys. Her 15 years of service as a hospital nurse in a wide range of clinical areas gives her a medical science background that supports her in what is now her 16th year in a legal environment. To stay informed of the rapid advances in science, she participates in numerous science groups. She is an active member of the Indianapolis Chapter of the Association for Women in Science, Scientech, the Indiana Health Industry Forum, and the Science Education Foundation of Indiana. In 2003 she joined the host committee of the 2006 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, the largest pre-college science competition in the world. Serving as co-chair of the Judging Committee, she was instrumental in the recruitment, management and training of over 1,000 science and technology professionals who served as judges for this event. Her efforts contributed to the largest recruitment of judges in the 57 year history of this event. To capture this momentum for the ongoing benefit of science education, she founded the Judge2Mentor Program to support the expressed interest of the scientific and technical judges to mentor young people on an ongoing basis. This organization serves to match these professionals with students in a mentoring relationship in support of educational achievement. It is her goal to continue supporting science competitions in a manner that facilitates the growth of mentoring relationships throughout the United States. |

Mrs. Debra Robertson
Deb became a SEFI board member while she was director of the Teacher’s Resource Center, IUPUI’s K-12 math and science outreach program. During this time TRC grew to serve 43,000 central Indiana students. She was a great activist for including guided inquiry and hands on discovery math and science lessons in all classrooms. She partnered with IUPUI’s School of Education Professor Natalie Barman to present seminars statewide and annually at HASTI on “No Fear Science Fairs”. Deb was active in the organization and implementation of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Indianapolis in May 2006. She annually volunteers at the Hoosier Science and Engineering Fairs. Holding a BS in Medical Technology and MS in Informatics Deb now is employed as a Technical Support Specialist at Roche Diagnostics. |

Ms. M. Kathy Unland
Kathy has worked for Raytheon for more than 21 years in a variety of capacities, including materials engineering, business development, community relations, depot operations, Raytheon Six Sigma™, program management, and quality engineering. Kathy is passionate about giving young students opportunities to discover science in hands-on situations, and moved to Indiana from Southern California in 1997 to establish the Teacher’s Resource Center—a free resource with hands-on science and math kits for Indiana schools and organizations to borrow. Kathy is a Certified Raytheon Six Sigma™ Expert (equivalent to a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt), and a Certified Manager of Quality and Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) with the American Society for Quality (ASQ). She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and an MBA, both from California State University, Fullerton. |

Alisa Wright
Alisa has over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. She received her BS and MS degrees from Purdue University from the schools of pharmacy and engineering, respectively. Her experience includes formulation development of small and large molecules, leading new product launch teams, supply chain management, clinical trial materials manufacturing and packaging, and overall quality and business management. She has worked within several successful life sciences companies including Eli Lilly, Cook and Baxter. BioConvergence represents the fourth company she has founded. She has 15 years of contract service provider experience from both the sourcing and supplier perspectives. She is also active in improving science, math and technology education within Indiana and serves on several industry, economic development and education boards. |
